Party politics refers to the political actions and behaviours of the party workers and functionaries for the welfare of particular political party. It is not based on self interest and selfish motive of any party worker. Arunachal Pradesh (erstwhile NEFA) has been remained out of party politics for long period. It was only in early 1970s, a section of INC was founded in the state. As of now, there are numbers of political party including regional political party like people’s party of Arunachal (PPA) and Arunachal Congress (AC) and national political party like Indian National congress (INC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) functioning in the state. The formation of these parties in the state has their own different history. Thus, the paper aims to study the emergence of these political parties in the state as well as to understand the nature of party politics in Arunachal Pradesh.
