The Solid State Nuclear Track Detectors (SSNTD)[1] are discussed in this paper. They are generally used for the detection of radon (222Rn), thoron (220Rn) and concentrations of progeny commonly. Comparing the SSNTDs LR 115 and CR-115 with other available detectors. In addition, dosimeters based on twin chamber solid state nuclear track detectors are used to estimate radon, thoron gases and their air concentrations. The aging process of cellulose nitrate detector material and its determination for the process was discussed on the basis of examining the special properties of LR 115 and CR-39 SSNTDs from different ages to around 18 years of age. The bulk etching rate Vb and the track etching rate Vt are the corresponding parameters observed in this process.
