Title

EMPIRICAL EVALUATION OF ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT LEVEL AMONG INDIAN HEALTHCARE EMPLOYEES

Abstract

The concept of organizational commitment has an instinctive appeal due to its relationship with loyalty, satisfaction, absenteeism, turnover and overall performance of an organization. All these factors are of paramount importance for healthcare administrators who are required to maintain a continuous supply of workforce in the presence of rising shortage of healthcare staff. The main aim of present study is to measure the level of organizational commitment among healthcare employees with respect to age, gender, qualification and experience. Data has been collected from 552 healthcare employees working in public and private healthcare organizations in the state of Haryana and NCR, India. Present study has used the well-known instrument - ACN scale developed by Allen and Meyer (1997). Findings reveled that majority of healthcare employees are committed towards their organization. The result of the study confirmed the findings of the earlier studies within the context of hospital organization and healthcare employees of India.
