Title

Effect of Elevated Temperatures on the Compressive Strength of Normal and High Strength Concrete

Abstract

The strength of concrete is significantly influenced by surrounding temperature conditions. This study investigates the effects of sustained elevated temperatures on the compressive strength of normal strength concrete (NSC) and high strength concrete (HSC) of grades M20 to M70. Concrete specimens were exposed to temperatures ranging from 50°C to 250°C, and their compressive strengths were measured after 7 and 28 days of curing. Results indicate that compressive strength increases at 7 days up to 50°C but decreases beyond this temperature. At 28 days, strength decreases consistently with increasing temperature
