The geotechnical site investigation for projects is a key input for the foundation selection and design, as well as cost optimization of the project. The effort to improve the output, from the site investigation work, is an ongoing process. The aim for the optimization can have different focus areas. This paper also gives the sources used for proper handling of the projects using Microsoft Excel sheets for planning, real time handling and analyzing data of the project progress. It also shows scheduling of various allied in-situ tests conducted in boreholewith drilling operations. Real time control of Chennai Metro Rail Limited Underground section is been undertaken for better understanding of the topic.
