Title

Preparation, Growth, Spectral, Thermal and SHG efficiency of Thiosemicarbazone of 4-Chlorobenzaldehyde

Abstract

Abstract Thiosemicarbazone of 4-Chlorobenzaldehyde is an interesting example of organic crystal. It has been grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique (SESGT) using methanol as solvent. The harvested crystals were purified by repeated recrystallization. The functional groups of harvested crystals were studied by the Fourier Transform (FT-IR) spectral analysis. The UV-Visible Spectral studies confirmed the optical transparency. These crystals are high relevant in electro optical applications. Thiosemicarbazone of 4-Chlorobenzaldehyde was characterized by both and 13C NMR spectra which show the molecular structure of the crystals. The TGA and DSC confirm the decomposition of the sample above 210oC.It further confirmed the grown crystals thiosemicarbazone of 4-Chlorobenzaldehyde was thermally stable up to 210oC. Second harmonic generation efficiency (SHG) of the powdered Thiosemicarbazone of 4-Chlorobenzaldehyde was tested using Nd: YAG laser and it is found to be 6.1 times higher than that of urea.
