The Indian construction industry has grown in manifolds. Construction is a very costly and time-consuming endeavour. Time and cost are very complex factors to be controlled by an engineer in the construction industry. In construction activity formwork takes about 30-40% of the total cost of Reinforced cement concrete(RCC) work. Since formwork is a temporary structure and it does not contribute to the stability of the finished structure, therefore it becomes necessary to keep the formwork cost the barest minimum. The objective of this study is to conduct a comparative study between conventional and Peri formwork system and to determine which comes out to be more time and cost effective. Two sites are selected, on one site conventional formwork is used and on another site Peri formwork is used. Rate of both types of formwork system is calculated using the data collected from the site and a rough estimate of total time and cost on the particular structure is determined. On the basis of the results obtained, a suitable formwork system is recommended for the project under consideration.
