Enforced disappearance is taking place all over the world and is not any new type of human rights violation. Enforced disappearance has been a serious violation of human rights for decades It violates number of rights including the disappeared person’s rights and his family. The consequences of enforced disappearance are deep and long-lasting both for the individuals directly affected and for the societies in which it takes place. My paper examines how enforced disappearance is a crime and how it violates rights. It also focuses on steps taken by United Nations to combat this heinous crime.
