Title

Effective Location Of Shear Wall On Performance Of Building Frame Subjected To Earthquake Load

Abstract

Now a days we have scarcity of land. We have restriction on horizontal expansion but we can built tall building. Tall building undergoes large deflection, as the number of storey increases. Therefore it is necessary to adopt some lateral load resisting system like shear wall. Shear wall has large plane stiffness, it reduces the sway of building therefore it has to be located at proper location to give less deflection. Shear wall is one of the most commonly used lateral system in high-rise building. In this paper seismic analysis has been performed using Static Linear Analysis for different model of structures, they are without shear wall, Shear wall at core, Shear wall at inner central portion, Shear wall at outer central periphery, Shear wall at L-shape corner. The results are observed by comparing the factors such as Time Period, Base Shear, Stiffness and Deflection. An equivalent static analysis for three dimensional models of buildings was performed as per IS 1893 (part 1) : 2002 and applied to (G + 9) storey RC building in zone IV. All of model is RCC framed structural system with analysis is carried out by using standard ETABS 2015.
