ABSTRACT Avian biodiversity is affected by local factors more than by regional ones, with species richness and densities declining as the number of buildings increase; urbanization will be detrimental for many bird species. Among the traits that have been related to lower bird diversity. Chalisgaon is a Town in Chalisgaon Taluka in Jalgaon District of Maharashtra State, India. It belongs to Khandesh and Northern Maharashtra region. It belongs to Nashik Division. It is located 96 KM towards South from District head quarter Jalgaon. Chalisgaon is located on the Titur and Dongri River, a tributary of the Girna River. The latitude 20.47°N and longitude 75.02°E are the geocoordinate of the Chalisgaon. It has an average elevation of 344 metres. This present study deals with the diversity and status of the avifauna in local and peripheral ecosystems of chalisgaon in Jalgaon, North Maharashtra, India. The study was carried out during February 2018 to February 2019 based on visual encounter surveys with photography. This study reported total 73 species from 31 families which belong to 11 avifaunal orders. It is expected that this study would provide a database for the avifauna of this area for the further research.
