Title

Design & Simulation of PID Control Based Modified Series Capacitor Buck converter with High Conversion Ratio Eliminating Startup Voltage Stress Issues

Abstract

In this paper, a modified Series Capacitor (SC) buck converter with high Buck ratio (conversion ratio) is proposed. This proposed converter also eliminates the voltage stress of the switches at starting conditions. An extra capacitor is added at the input side but the equivalent capacitance remains same as that of the conventional converters with reduction of voltage across the switches. In this, a closed loop with PID controller is introduced in order to maintain constant load voltage under the varying input conditions. The design of the proposed converter is simulated under open loop and closed loop conditions and the results are obtained and compared with conventional system design.
