The design process and the deployment mechanism of a helix antenna is presented. The deployable antenna which is to be compressed, comprises of a top and bottom plate of acrylic which were cut using laser cutting. We have used ellipsoidal beads and cylindrical links, which were manufactured using 3-D printing technology. A deployable structure is employed within the plates, using the force generated between the five parallel strings of beads and link arrangement to produce a rigid antenna structure. A copper coil is wound in between the plates and is coiled around the structure in a helical shape. The new aspects of these designs lie in the structure and deployment mechanism. This antenna can be contracted in stowed configuration, then can be elongated to a deployed configuration. This device finds its importance and use in Nano Satellite (Nano/Micro Satellite) & Futuristic communication satellite system (VHF/UHF Antenna).
