Wireless communication technologies keep on experiencing quick headway. Lately, there has been a precarious development in research in the region of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Sensor network protocols (SNP) have a one of a kind self-sorting out ability. This paper gives the foundation of WSN. In the starting of the paper gives brief description about WSN then define WSN design features and research challenges. Also, energy efficient routing (EER) and protocols have defined with EC approaches. Finally, it concluded followed by literature survey.
