Abstract: A novel structure of step feeding Circular Patch Microstrip antenna for radar range application is presented here. The proposed antenna consists of a circular radiating patch with step feeding and employs a simple notch in feed line which gives multiple band of frequencies for radar application at (3.14 -5.6) GHz, (7.3-9.07) GHz and (10.6-11.38) GHz for S11≤ -10 dB. The (3.14-5.6) GHz support C-Band, while (10.6-11.38) GHz supports X-Band. Circular patch structure is easier in designing than other patch configuration as we only need one design parameter i.e. radius of patch with good radiation pattern and better radiation efficiency than rectangular patch. The antenna is fabricated on h=1.6 mm FR-4 epoxy substrate with the dielectric constant 4.4.The length and width of substrate are 38 mm and 40 mm respectively while radius of circular patch is 5 mm. The proposed antenna is simulated on HFSS and measured results show a good agreement with required results.
