Construction cost of any structure is the biggest investment as it involves material cost, machine cost, labour cost etc. Cost, being the important parameter, shall be estimated and calculated once the designing of the structure is done. The cost/rates of the items may vary with the project, location etc. where the building is to be construction. Therefore, different parameters which affect the costing of the project should be considered during the estimation process. The cost of concrete and reinforcement of building contributes almost 50% to the total cost of any building. But estimating and calculating these costs of building are a scrutinized process and this must be done very carefully. Cost analysis can be performed at different stages. The first estimation of the cost is done before calling for quotes (i.e. tendering) as it decides the tender amount of that project. The aforementioned estimation is preliminary and rough. Then the cost analysis is done once the building has reached the design stage. After analyzing the building, with various means, quantities and cost of concrete and reinforcement are to be calculated. In order to perform the cost analysis, the rates of concrete and steel should be known. These rates may vary with the location and the specifications of project.
