Title

A New Data Encryption Model Based On Genetic Inspired Cryptography

Abstract

With technology evolving, computer networks spreading, and Internet becoming one of the most used resources for day to day activities, data has taken a very central role. With that, rises the need of having it protected in the most secure manner, to ensure it is used only by rightful users with rightful intents. Therefore, most secure encryption methods are to be studied and implemented to achieve maximum data security levels. This paper presents a new hybrid encryption model for achieving data confidentiality and privacy based on an asymmetric modification of Genetic Algorithms. Genetic operations involve good randomness that can be used in generation of an unpredictable and strong key. In this model, original file is compressed then split into parts. Then a 48-bits encryption key made of 2 parts is generated. The first part is used to encrypt a random number (called key use count) of file parts. The rest of the parts are encrypted using the second part of the key. This provides the first level of security. Finally, the traditional symmetric scheme of genetic algorithm is enhanced using RSA cryptosystem to keep the key secure and avoid any attacker to get access to it while it is being transferred. This serves as the second layer of security and privacy. The developed approach provides high data security, integration potential and feasibility.
