Abstract
Abstract : Cardanol, a naturally occurring aliphatic side chain substituted phenol derived from cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) was used for the preparation of bis(3-pentadecenylphenol)methane (BPPM). BPPM when treated with epichlorohydrinfollowed by the action of sodiumperiodate, di-αformylmethoxy bis(3-pentadecenylphenyl)methane (DFMPM) was obtained. DFMPM was the starting material for the present study.
