Title

DETERMINATION OF EFFECTIVE ATOMIC NUMBER AND RELATED PHOTON INTERACTION PARAMETERS OF OXIDES OF NEODYMIUM, SAMARIUM AND DYSPROSIUM FROM MEASURED γ- RAY MASS ATTENUATION COEFFICIENTS.

Abstract

In present work the objective is to determine the effective atomic number and related photon interaction parameters of the oxides of neodymium,samarium and dysprosium from measured gamma ray mass attenuation coefficients, at 662 KeV, 1173 KeV and 1332 KeV photon energies. The NaI(Tl) activated scintillation detector is used to detect and record the gamma photons. The experimentally computed values and the theoretical values obtained using mixture rule, X-Com were compared and reported.
