Title

A STUDY ON PROSPECTIVE TEACHERS’ VALUES IN RELATION TO THEIR MODERNIZATION

Abstract

Value is an abstract concept which varies from culture to culture. Values are mainly inculcated in childhood. Modernization is generally regarded as a process of change. It has impact on personal values. Mainly a descriptive survey method was used for this study. Two standardized questionnaires of values and modernization were used to collect the data. For this purpose 170 samples are collected from different teacher training institutions of Kolkata and North 24 Parganas of West Bengal. The findings were there is significant difference in the values of gender and course (B.Ed. &M.Ed.) of prospective teachers but there is no significant difference in the values of prospective teachers according to their locale. The researcher was also found that there is no significant difference in the modernization status of prospective teachers according to their gender, locale and course. It is also found that there is no significant relationship between values and modernization. The researcher also suggested that teacher training institutions play a vital role in imparting values and make them aware about the drawbacks of modernization.
