The relationship between weigth and haematocrit in Catla catla - The growing interest in haematological studies of fish blood is due to its diagnostic potential in fish toxicology and pathology. The application of measurement of haematocrit has proven valuable for fishery biologist in assessing the health of fish and monitoring stress responses including those due to sub lethal concentration of pollutants. In this study of Catla catla , we analyse the relationship between haematocrit and body weight and found that ht value is lowest in the lowest body weight group. This increased as the fish weight increased upto a certain level. In male Catla catla haematocrit value increases from mean weight 209.400 ± 9.0899 to 619.800 ± 9.4601 but decreases in fishes in the mean weight 818.429 ± 10.0638 and again increased in the mean weight 1193.286 ± 30.9445. Male fishes showed a higher ht value than females.
