Human migration plays an important role in social, economic and political studies for few reasons. First as one of the basic components of population growth and redistribution, it occupies a central place in any demographic analysis. Second it has a direct effect on the economy of both the receiving and the sending areas in conjunction with the natural fluctuation in the population density of those areas. The economic effects may be large or small depending upon relative size of the migrant and the non-migrant populations, and the extent of development already taking place in the area. Moreover, apart from economic growth it also affects the social welfare, the socio-cultural and political environment of a country or region, or of a territory.
