Title

Pedagogical Issues of Mathematics education

Abstract

In subsequent of technological breakthrough during last three decades mathematics has got the premier place among all sciences. Such rapid growth of Mathematics and its application has implicated to go into depth of real issues in its curricular activities. The fascinating world of Mathematics provides an unlimited possibility for both the teacher and the learner to face many problems of diverse nature related to different aspects and branches of mathematics. An effective learning of mathematics at school level very much depends on the various issues related to the teaching and learning process. They are identified as Pedagogical content knowledge, misperception, demographic prejudices, untrained or half trained thought process of the learner, improper training of teachers etc. Various researches have highlighted the vast complexity of the mathematics teaching profession and observed that profession needs a deep understanding of pedagogical knowledge in contextualized manner. In the present paper efforts have been made, to discuss in detail the various pedagogical issues especially in the teaching of Mathematics at school level and suggests some measures to resolve them.
