Title

IMPACT OF TWO COMBINATIONS OF NEUROMUSCULAR DRILLS AND ASANA PRACTICES ON EXPLOSIVE POWER

Abstract

Basketball is one of the most popular games in the world. Participants of all ages have discovered basketball to be fun, competitive, educational, and recreational and fitness oriented. The purpose of study was to find out the impact of two combinations of neuromuscular drills and asana practices on explosive power of basketball players. To achieve the purpose of the study, thirty junior boys’ basket ball players from Navabisha Montessori School, Velachery, Chennai, Tamilnadu were selected as subject at random and their age group range between 10 to 13 years. The study was formulated as pre and post test random group design, in which thirty subject were divided into three equal groups. The experimental group-1 (n=10, NMD-AP) underwent neuromuscular drills combined with asana practices. The experimental group-2 (n=10, AP-NMD) underwent asana practices combined with neuromuscular drills and group 3 served as control group (n=10, CG). In this study, two training programme were adopted as independent variables and the explosive power was selected as dependent variable and it was tested by vertical jump, the leap performance was recorded in centimetres. The selected two treatment group’s was performed five days in a week for the period of six weeks, as per the stipulated training program. The performance of explosive power was tested before and after the training period. The collected pre and post data was critically analyzed with apt statistical tool of analysis of co-variance, for observed the significant adjusted post-test mean difference of three groups. The Scheffe’s post hoc test was used to find out pair-wise comparisons between groups. To test the hypothesis 0.05 level of significant was fixed in this study. The result clearly proved that there was significant improvement on explosive power in experimental groups than the control group.
