Education is one of the most crucial needs in human life. Educational institutions are there to cater to this human need. Both public and private sector educational institutions are playing the main role in providing education to the people. Though there are so many public sector educational institutions, we cannot deny the role of private sector schools and colleges in providing quality education to the huge masses of students. In Kamrup (Rural) Area of Assam also there are several private schools and colleges and these institutions are increasing since the last few years. In this Kamrup (Rural) Area, a number of educated people are engaged in the private schools and colleges as teachers. The present study will be helpful in getting a complete idea about the growing trend of private educational institutions and their role in the upliftment of our education system especially in Kamrup (Rural) Area. The study is conducted also to see why the people in this area prefer private sector educational institutions.
