Title

Development of an Efficient Control Strategy for Energy Management of Standalone Hybrid Solar- Wind System

Abstract

The major problem in renewable energy system is that the variation in power generation from time to time because of the intermittent nature of the renewable sources. In this paper presents the energy management and an efficient control strategy of stand Alone Hybrid Renewable Energy System. It describes a Wind Turbine and PV array hybrid energy storage system based on battery and AC domestic load. Various DC/DC converters are utilized to control the power flow to the load and Maximum Power Point Tracker is utilized for most extreme power extraction from the PV and wind systems. In this energy management scheme, PV and wind together generate power in a coordinated manner to meet the load demand. The battery is utilized as an energy storage system during surplus power as well as a backup device during demand. The proposed system works in such an approach to keep up the State of Charge (SOC) of the battery above 80%, which, therefore, energy management of in this system. The objectives of this proposed system are, primarily, to satisfy the domestic load power demand and, second, to manage the power between its different components. Simulation results using MATLAB/Simulink illustrate the performances of the proposed energy management system under several operation modes.
