Urban growth refers to the route of growing concentration of people inside a town or city which initiate from a small dot and after that it spreads in dissimilar ways varying intensity of growth from one urban place to another. The spatial configuration and the dynamics of urban growth are important topics of analysis in the contemporary urban studies. The increasing number of built-up area like housing and commercial construction would be more effective to point out the urban development. The present paper is therefore mainly focuses on spatio – temporal changes in in-fill and out-fills built-up growth of Nanjangud town. To understand the exact in-fill and out-fills built-up growth, surrounding villages of Nanjangud town has been considered for the analysis. GIS and Remote Sensing techniques were used in this study for the analysis and that reveals the expansion of built-up area has increased from 543 hectares to 899.02 hectares during the period of 1991 – 2019. The result helps the planners and geographers for better planning and management of an urban area.
