Title

Medical and legal duties of a doctor in cases of poisoning -a review

Abstract

Duties of a Doctor while dealing with poisoning cases increases as it is a medical emergency along with legal issues associated with it. The role of doctor is not only to follow a basic management protocol, but also to handle legal formalities, following the treatment part. The basic line of treatment should be supportive care, accurate diagnosis, removal of unabsorbed poison, elimination of absorbed poison and administration of antidotes. The Registered medical practitioner is bound by his duties to all other legal and ethical work, concerning a poisoning case otherwise liable for punishment as per the current law. So, this article deals with the duties of registered medical practitioner/doctor to make the profession efficient as well as legal.
