The Government of India enacted the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act 2016 (RERA) on 26th March 2016 and all its provisions came into effect, from May 1, 2017. RERA is an Act which is passed by the Indian Parliament. The RERA attempt to protect the interests of home buyers and they also boost investments in the real estate sector. The RERA is the need of the hour to reduce delays, help ensure speedier completion, and bring higher investments into the sector. The present study focuses on the long term benefits of RERA in India. The study has also discussed the impact of RERA on real estate industry. The study has undertaken the various secondary data and newspaper and websites details to analyze the impact of RERA on real estate industry in India.
