Present business organisations have to continuously take efforts to improve the competencies so as to become more valuable and effective. Traditional hierarchial structure is implicitly replaced by team oriented system. Employees willing to put additional efforts beyond their formal job descriptions are preferred by organisations. Such willingness is identified as an extra role behaviour formally defined as Organisational citizenship behaviour. This research seeks to explore the nature, dimensions, antecedents and constructs of OCB. Dennis Organ suggested five dimensions of OCB which were Altruism, Conscientiousness, Civic Virtue, Sportsmanship and Courtesy.
