Plants growing in the industrial areas and the pollutants at their foliar surface. In this paper, changes of the stomatal index induced by industrial pollutants of Kolaghat Thermal Power (KTPP) Plant area. Some plant species have been identified such as Mangifera indica, Syzygium cumini, Swietenia mahagoni, Eucalyptus globulus, Nicotiana plumbaginifolia, Rorippa indica, Solanum lycopersicum and Solanum nigram to be able to absorb, detoxify and tolerate high levels of pollution. Degree of the tolerance is indirectly correlated with the intensity of stomatal injuries which occur in foliar surface of leaf. Stomata length and stomatal index number of these species from highly polluted sites and lowly polluted sites were investigated by light microscopy. The stomata decrease in size and increase in density in leaves from high polluted sites.
