In the future era, the vehicles are viewed to be autonomous to give driver less/ relaxed driving. In the field of automobile various aspects have been considered which makes a vehicle autonomous. In this paper we have focused on two applications of an autonomous car, one in which obstacle avoidance and another one is traffic sign detection using image processing. Obstacle avoidance based on ultrasonic sensor using raspberry pi is presented in this paper. Traffic sign detection is implemented using python and opencv library. The idea described in this paper has been motivated by the Google’s self driving car.
