In the current year’s data transmissions through digitalized media and image application have been greatly enhanced and therefore retaining secure transmission of image is of high preference. Images are encrypted in order to gain security for image based applications .This paper presents the survey on the different types of existing image encryption and majorly focuses on the Image encryption utilizing symmetric and asymmetric key(s) and also explains various properties of strong image encryption techniques. The paper exhibits a survey on the famous algorithms and various research papers associated with the different key based image encryption algorithm.
