Foreign Direct investment (FDI) in developing countries and its growing importance in the international field is one of the major changes in the last two decades. This extraordinary growth of global FDI in 1990 around the world made FDI an important and vital component of development strategy in both developed and developing nations. India is a developing nation and second nation after China receiving maximum FDI in the world. The main objective of this paper is to find the trends and pattern of FDI in India since1991. The paper will use a theoretical approach to find the trends of FDI after post liberalization period in different sectors as well.
