Introduction: Heart disease is a leading case of death in India. Dietary changes could reduce risk, but few studies have addressed the association between diet and Heart disease risk in India. As the age group of adults has increased and leads to chronic disease such as cardiovascular disease. A limited number of studies have explore the effect of diet on cardio metabolic risk factors such as Hypertension, Obesity in adult populations. Normal cellular activity upon constant supply of oxygen and nutrients specialized organs like Heart, Lungs and major blood vessels are necessary for progress of oxygenation any deviation in this regular activities leads to various health problem. Various interventions and modification aiming at promotion of healthy eating behaviors have limited impact due to insufficient understanding of dietary habits between different age groups Dietary pattern and life style have reported to be risk factors of coronary heart disease. The present study title: A study to assess the knowledge of dietary pattern in Heart Diseases among adults in selected urban areas of Pune city. The objective of the study was To assess the knowledge regarding dietary pattern of heart diseases among adults. To associate the finding with selected demographic variables. . Material and Methods: In present study, researcher adopted Non- experimental research design. Study carried out 200 samples. Non – probability purposive sampling technique was used. Data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics which was based on the objectives. By using frequency distribution and percentage was used to assess the knowledge level. For data collection tool self- structured questionnaire used. The statistic used was frequency, percentage, standard deviation and Fishers exact statistic. Result: majority of sample is 91% are having good knowledge, 75% are having excellent knowledge, and 15% are having average knowledge. Majority of the sample are in the age group of 19 to 25 years 31%.,Majority of sample are other education is 55%,Majority of sample are labor’s 40%.,Majority of sample belongs to Hindu religion is 82%.Majority of sample are both dietary pattern of 61%.,Majority of sample are Mobile as a sources of information 69.5%. Conclusion: From the above findings, the researcher concluded that a healthy diet which is rich in vegetables and fruits has a beneficial effect in the management of cardiovascular diseases. Recommendation: The similar study can be conducted in Rural areas, Comparative study can be conducted in Rural and Urban areas, The study can be replicated on large number of sample, The study can be conducted in experimental design.
