Title

ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITIES OF TiO2 NANO-POWDER BASED SURFACE COATINGS FOR HEALTH CARE APPLICATIONS

Abstract

This study supports the idea that the nano particles of titanium dioxide can be used in formulations of oil paints. The nano TiO2 material was found to be the most efficient photo-catalytic agent as well as the most efficient antimicrobial agent for interior paints covering the broadest spectrum of microorganisms. Another aim of this research was to find a reasonable percentile concentration of TiO2 nanomaterial in the formulations of the interior oil paints. The coatings produced with the interior paints were evaluated using the agar plate method. The results of this study are summarized and the coatings containing TiO2 nanomaterial revealed acceptable antimicrobial activities.
