Over 30 million have been diagnosed with Diabetes in India. In urban areas it is thought to be 9% and in rural areas prevalence is approximately 3% of the total population. The magnitude of the problem calls for urgent action, so the study was intended to assess the knowledge of adults regarding diabetes and to determine the association with selected demographic variables. Descriptive research design was adopted and the samples were selected by using purposive sampling technique. It was observed that 28.6% of vegetarians had Diabetes and 46.1% of Non-vegetarians had Diabetes. With regard to knowledge 62 % had inadequate knowledge and 12 % had adequate knowledge. The existing knowledge was significantly associated with education and socioeconomic status.
