Title

MODELING AND ANALYSIS OF HEAVY TRUCK CHASSIS ON VARIOUS MATERIALS

Abstract

A vehicle frame, conjointly referred to its chassis, is that the main construction of an automobile, to that all different elements square measure connected, like the skeleton of associate degree organism. Vehicles chassis contains of get all the fundamental items of a truck (without the body) to be ready for task out and concerning. Stuff may be a material created out of a minimum of two explicit stages (network stage and scattered stage) and having mass properties all together not a similar as those of any of the constituents. Distinctive styles of stuff square measure accessible and one in all its compound lattice composite. It’s current owing to their negligible effort and basic manufacture techniques. It is the benefit of high physical property, high firmness, nice erosion, obstruction and then on. Now-a-days this compound lattice composite materials square measure used in aviation, vehicle ventures owing to it high commonness to low weight proportion During this project we tend to set up and model the over whelming vehicle skeleton, by taking the data from the “Ashok Layland” substantial vehicle show by deciding procedures. Gift used material for case is STRUCTURAL STEEL ($355). The purpose is to supersede the frame material with composite materials. By utilizing steel, the heaviness of the suspension is a lot of contrasted with composite materials KELVER CNT MMC, CARBON FIBER, and CVI-C/SIC. Since its thickness is a lot of Auxiliary and Model investigation is finished on skeleton for advancing on top of parameters below 60 tons burden. In this project we optimizing the chassis by reducing the material of chassis for decreasing the fuel consumption, weight reduction and saving the material of a vehicle and also controlling the pollution of environment by exhaust gases from the vehicle. Considering obtaining results like Stress, Displacement and Strain of various materials for “C” - Cross Section and proposing the better Material for C - Cross section for designing a vehicle frame (chassis).By comparing the obtaining results from chassis with optimization and without optimization. Chassis model is done by using (UNIGRAPHICS SOFTWARE NX.10) and simulation of chassis is done by using NX NASTRON Software.

Key Words

Heavy Truck chassis, materials like S 355, CARBON FIBER, KELVER and CVI-C/SIC, UNIGRAPHICS, NX-NASTRAN, Stress, Strain and Displacement.
