Abstract

Culture is the expression of ideas customs and social behavior of a group of people in the society. People of one cultural background may migrate to the political sphere of some other culture due to certain political and socio-economic changes as a result of this one group may lose its identity that group tries to establish its identity. Rudolfo Anaya tries to establish Chicano cultural identity in his work Bless Me, Ultima. Ultima is a character that represents Chicano culture. Chicano culture is the mixtue of Spanish culture and Indigenous Mexican culture. Indigenous Mexican culture itself is a combination of diverse tribal cultures like Meres and Luna. Anaya throws light on the different aspects of these cultures through the life of the protagonist Antonio.
