Title

Comparative Analysis of the Effect of Candle Wax as Thermal Storage Material on the Performance of Solar Dryer

Abstract

Abstract This paper analyses determine the effect of candle wax material as thermal storage on the performance of solar dryers. The solar drying system uses solar radiation to dry agricultural products put in it. From the test carried out it was revealed that the dryer with storage material can perform more efficiently than those without storage. The Indian standard method of testing of solar thermal was adopted. From the result it was observed that the temperature rise inside the drying chamber was up to 63 0C around 12.00 noon and the solar radiation obtained its peak value of 957.58W/m2 around 2:00 pm. The dryer exhibited sufficient ability to dry food items reasonably to a safe moisture level. Further tests should also be carried out during more sunny days or periods of the year.
