Review paper on Pump shaft failures
Abstract
In this explore, we are going to understand different ways of shaft failure and there reasons. researchers worked on different pump shaft failures to know reasons that why shaft failure occurs. They conducted different test to identify regions where most of the pump shaft failure occurs. Tests like Chemical analysis, micro structural characterization fractography hardness measurement tensile and Chirpy impact tests were used for the analysis. most of the failure occurs due to corrosion, torsion load & erosion. These problems are identified and can be solved by means of changing material, by providing radius at sharp edges, by avoiding stress concentration on weaker regions, change in design.
