Lean manufacturing is a systematic approach to identify and eliminate wastes in all aspects of an organization’s operations and also to increase productivity and profitability. This paper focuses on a practical study carried out in a manufacturing industry for a coupler product from its manufacturing process to its defects identified and remedies. A value stream mapping (VSM) is a lean manufacturing tool used to visually map the flow of production. It exposes waste in the current processes and provides a roadmap for improvement through the future state. A value stream mapping tool is implemented for coupler product to record cycle time, takt time. This paper discusses an analysis and improvement actions. Thus by applying lean manufacturing there is an increase in productivity and cost saving.
