The main objective is to provide security to AODV protocol is subjected by an attack called Dark gap attack on a MANET, is attack by a destructive node which reduces succession number and back check of directing message is developed by dark gap node. AODV is an uni path routing protocol and it is unprotectable against attack. To overcome dark gap attack, AODV proposed wait and check replies from all intermediate nodes to find a safe route but it suffers from high delay. So we use extended version of AODV i.e., AOMDV is a multipath routing protocol depends on previously available routing information of AODV, even if the current path breaks due to attack, network will find an alternate path (using route discovery) with low end-to-end delay and Overhead, high packet delivery ratio (less number of packets will be dropped) and throughput. AOMDV is proved to be better against dark gap attacks than AODV.
