Abstract : This paper attempts to study the status of Women Empowerment and highlights the issues of contemporary women’s movement in Independent India. Today one of the most important concerns of 21st century is empowerment of women, which has become one of the prime aspect of a developing society like India. But practically women empowerment is still a high hill to climb on. In our day to day life, we often come across certain situations and news of how women on a daily basis are constantly being victimized by various social evils and the partial eye. But amidst everything, if a society is to achieve peace and harmony, then women empowerment is one of the most crucial and vital instrument, and to expand women’s ability to have resources and to make strategic life choice, will definitely help the society grow in unison. The economic, social and political upliftment of the status of women is the need of the hour, specially the underprivileged ones of the society. And proper education is the only process of guarding them against all forms of violence. India, being a fast pace developing country, still faces the scars of unequal gender treatment in the major parts of the entire nation. The fate of the underprivileged women suffers the most in India. The study reveals, the there is no adequate solution of the empowerment of women, as in spite of certain government approach and feminist movement, majority of the rural India still witness the norms of unequal gender acceptance. This is a deep rooted problem amongst the minds of the mass population of Indlia. Thus we can come to a suitable conclusion that access to Education, Employment and proper information exchange will play as crucial factors for changing the face of women Empowerment in India.
