Title

Feature Extraction For CAPP From IGES & STEP File

Abstract

In our day to day life 3D modeling play a convenient role in civil, mechanical and computer sectors. So that modeling a new and emerging fundamental process across CAPP (Computer Aided Process Planning). Due to lack of required data communication interface among CAD/CAM and CAPP systems it is too difficult to generate the required process plans. This is the first reason which develop the system with proper process plan. Open source software in CAPP provide the way to which develop the model. But in the case of application with paid services has large amount of money needed to buy the package or the library. So that the primary process of the system is feature extraction and recognition plays a vital role in manufacturing systems from developed drawings. This feature recognition is obtained by using the Boundary Representation (B-rep) details extracted from the STEP file (Standard for the Exchange of Product model data) or IGES (Initial Graphics Exchange Specification) to recognize the design features. STEP & IGES are the file used to input the system. B-Rep is the fundamental process which ensure the extraction of feature from the files. Here the feature extraction and recognition is carried out by using an algorithm that is Geometric Surface Detection Algorithm. This algorithm helps as to form the document contain the dimensions of the surfaces.
