The polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine, metabolic, reproductive and dermatological disturbance affecting women and is the foremost cause of anovulatory infertility. The vivid etio-pathogenesis and the diagnosis of exclusion contribute adversely to this burning women health problem. Aim & Objective was to develop clinical diagnostic measures for PCOS through the principles and practices of Ayurveda. Material and Methods incorporated include literature review of modern and Ayurveda and updated information from internet. Outcome put forth clinical diagnostic measures like menstrual irregularities like Oligomenorrhoea, Amenorrhea or Menorrhagia, Obesity or lean built, Acne, Hirsutism, Acanthosis Nigricans point towards the possible underlying pathology of PCOS. Thus it can be concluded that early clinical diagnosis of PCOS in women of adolescent, reproductive and peri-menopausal age not only aid in preventing the health consequences related to reproductive, endocrinal and metabolic origin but also adopt effective Ayurvedic management.
