Abstract Language teaching involves the development of language skills. Acquisition of language skills are normally expected from a child at the primary level of education. In order to develop the language skills, development of vocabulary is essential. Vocabulary expansion is the base of reading, writing, and speaking. The purpose of the study is to find out Effectiveness of Semantic Mapping for Developing Malayalam Vocabulary of Primary School Students. Semantic Map help studentsto identify, understand, and recall the meaning of words they read in the Malayalam text. The investigator conducted a study to test the effect of Semantic Map for enhancing the Malayalam vocabulary of primary school students. Lesson transcripts based on Semantic Map and MalayalamVocabulary Test are the tools for thestudy.Primary school students studying in ICSE and CBSE schools of ErnakulamDistrict were the sample for the study. The finding of the study revealed that Semantic Map is an effective tool for enhancing Malayalam vocabulary of primary school students.
