Title

IoT BASED MONITORING AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR SMART FARMING

Abstract

Iot plays a very prominent role in the emerging technology.Since it has several applications it is being used in almost every fields.It has been said that the contribution of IoT in the agricultural industry will feed upto 9.4 billion people during the year 2060.Smart agriculture helps in effective use of resources which helps in improving the productivity. The ideology is to monitor the crop-field using sensors (soil moisture, temperature, humidity, Light,Motion) and automate the irrigation system, lighting system and animal alert system by using solar energy. The data from sensors are sent to the controller. Each system will provide the respective output based on the threshold level which was already uploaded in the controller. This IoT monitoring system is an user-friendly way of managing the farms. This can be Monitored and controlled by the MQTT application so that user can view and control it through mobile. With the help of relay the system can be made ‘on’ or ‘off’ through the app. The irrigation is automated if the moisture and temperature of the field falls below the threshold level.In addition to irrigation,light intensity can be controlled and automated by using incandescent or fluorescent lights. Similarly, if any animal crosses the boundary the sensor senses and makes an alarm and enable the light, as well as it will capture the image of animal. The notifications are sent to farmer’s mobile periodically. The farmers can able to monitor the field conditions from anywhere. This system will be reliable in areas of water scarcity and also the conventional way of farming.
