Authors

Abstract

In current years, sustainability concept has been to be common interest of numerous disciplines. Performing the sustainable development is the reason for this popularity. The theory or concept of sustainable architecture is also known as " green architecture " or " green building " is the theory, science and styles of buildings constructed and designed in accordance with environmentally friendly principles. To construct, maintain, design and operate buildings' energy, new materials and water are utilized as well as the amount of waste generates negative effects to health and environment is originated. To minimize these effects and design resource efficient building and environmentally sound; " green building system” must be clarified, practiced, introduced and understood. This paper is purposeful to discover up to tell which level the sustainability rating system like GRIHA (green rating for integrated habitat assessment) it can be effective in rating contemporary architectural projects. The study is also showing some of the projects, while it's trying to show sustainable architecture concepts in appearance. In further steps this paper intends to examine and evaluate the effectiveness of GRIHA rating system. Analysis based on this study purpose that, it is necessary to use design-oriented patterns, for sustainable architecture. This paper analyses 6 major GRIHA certified buildings which are in India and they are combinations of different rates. Further, GRIHA's Normans, rating star points and basic fundamentals are also included.
