In the present electronic driven world, the dependency on the computer technology has been increased as every data and information has acquired electronic shape and is capable of moving through the optic fibers. Though the technology has made the life easy, yet it has its own drawbacks like increased dependency on the technology would pose difficulty in protecting once rights in cyber space like copy rights violation, un-authorized or unlicensed use of trademarks, trade names, service marks, images, music or sound or literary matter etc.. The increased frequency of intellectual property infringements is witnessed more in relation to online media in the recent past rather than offline. It could be due to easy availability of the data in cyber realm which can easily be accessed, copied and transferred without disclosing one’s identity. The present paper shall focus on critical legal issues relating to violations of Intellectual Property Rights and its protection under the existing law.
