Rural Development is a one of the most important dynamic concept in present day Indian context. Panchayat Raj Institution is a mechanism of Rural Development that it is played important role in village as well as Panchayat development. It is a machinery for development of village through with grass levels people participation in democracy. This paper is analysised the developmental way of rural areas, people participation in democracy, role of the PRI with special reference to 40th No Janajati Gaon Panchayat South West Jorhat. In this paper is analysised the various factors of Rural Development, implementation of government schemes, the situation of rural areas , communication system, drawbacks of rural development and steps of development in rural areas of Assam. The government with Communities organisation and NGOs have played roles for need of development in rural areas of Assam.
